As an educator himself with over 17 years’ experience in classroom, Olalekan understands the struggles that education spectrum in Nigeria face including dearth of skills, innovative practices that could revitalize education policies, connectivity and learning resources. In 2016, he co-founded TedPrime Hub with Co-founder Ayodele Odeogbola and since then, the organization has trained thousands of teachers through its Teach Right Program, Codeliners Project, STEM Her and Girls Can Code to train STEM Teachers in Ogun State and other neighbouring states on coding, robotics with over 300 coding clubs in these states through United States Embassy, IREX US and other global organizations.

Examining artificial intelligence literacy among pre-service teachers for future classrooms

In the context of global integration and increasing reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, evaluating the AI literacy of pre-service teachers is crucial. As future architects of educational systems, pre-service teachers must not only possess pedagogical expertise but also a strong foundation in AI literacy. This quantitative study examines AI literacy among 529 pre-service teachers in a Nigerian university, utilizing structural equation modeling (SEM) for comprehensive analysis. The research explores various dimensions of AI literacy, revealing that a profound understanding of AI significantly predicts positive outcomes in AI use, detection, ethics, creation, and problem-solving.

Development and Validation of Instructional Package for Teaching and Learning of Genetics in Senior Secondary Schools

The sound knowledge of Biology is, to date, is a strong prerequisite to study many Biological and Life Sciences, examples of which include Physiology, Forensic Science, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Biochemistry, to mention a few. These fields, amongst others, rely on a very important aspect of Biology known as Genetics, which is the study of heredity and variation in living organisms. The field of Genetics intersects with many other life sciences. However, students' attempts of questions on Genetics in internal and external examinations in senior secondary schools in Nigeria have been very poor over the years because they find the concepts of Genetics hard to understand. The need, therefore, arises to look for ways of dealing with this prolonged problem. This study, therefore, attempted to develop an institutional package and also surveyed the extent to which it is adequate for instructional delivery.

AU Teacher Prize winner, Adeeko, bags Microsoft most valuable professional award

A multiple-award winning teacher, Olalekan Adeeko, has been declared by Microsoft as the Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in Africa. MVP is one of the most reputable honours in the tech community globally and the award is given out annually to celebrate individuals, who are deeply committed to sharing their expertise and helping others make the most use of technology in various fields. Since the maiden edition in 1993, no fewer than 4,000 individuals around the globe have received the award so far. Speaking on the award, Adeeko, who is an African Union Continental Teacher Prize winner (2020) and co-founder of TedPrime Hub, expressed happiness over the honour. He revealed that within the last six years, he had before now, bagged two different awards from Microsoft-Microsoft Innovative Educator, which he received in Singapore in 2018 and Microsoft Fellow in Paris in 2019, even as he described the latest recognition as a major milestone in his career.

This teacher-turned-Tiktoker is simplifying tech in Yoruba

Learning tech skills in indigenous languages can potentially increase access to digital education. Olalekan Adeeko, a teacher-turned-TikToker is making this happen. In September 2022, armed with his camera, Olalekan Adeeko recorded a humble introduction video where he shared his idea to teach tech in his native language—Yoruba. To his surprise, about three hours after posting the video on TikTok, he got several “We can’t wait” comments. At that point, he knew there was no going back.
